Ingram Family Case, 1948-1959
Biographical / Historical
Rosa Lee Ingram, Sammie Lee Ingram, Wallace Ingram, were sentenced to death in Albany, Georgia for the slaying of John Stratford, a white tenant farmer. NAACP lawyers successfully argued for a reduction of the sentence, which was changed to life imprisonment. The Ingrams were granted parole in 1959.
